Heng Fatt Yong Kee Pawnshop

Next Stop Heng Fatt Yong Kee Pawnshop
Unfortunately, when we arrived at Heng Fatt Yong Kee Pawnshop, it was not open. There was no information outside the shop too. Thus, we only managed to find out that the Pawnshop was already present since the year 1940 and even before the World War II. The shop was further renovated to where it is today. The shop provides short term loans based on branded watches and gold jewellery, valuation on various jewellery sell used and scrapped gold jewellery through in-house Second Hand Goods Dealing Company.

In the early 1900, people who seen walking into the pawnshop was associated with poverty or alcoholic, glue-sniffing and opium addict. Hence, with these information, we can infer that the people in the early days have the practice of going to the pawnshop for instant cash to make ends meet or other purposes such as buying opium for the opium addict.
